Weekend plans and yoga poses... whaaat?

I don't know about you, and I know it's only Thursday, but I'm soooo looking forward to this weekend! :-)

First of all, I just started a new class so things are easy right now... which equals no little to no school on the weekend! Yeaayyh! This Saturday I plan to go running (thank God it's an off week, only 4 miles!), grocery shopping, probably house-cleaning too, as always. But Saturday night, we have plans to go to Dave & Buster's in Orlando with Eric's Sheriff's Office friends/co-workers.

I've never been, but it seems like a lot of fun! Eric has been before and said they have some really good drinks (Lord knows I'm down with that!), and even though I'm not a big game player, I think it will be fun with a bunch of friends!

Sooo, I may be a glutton for punishment, but tonight I'm going to try that Bikram Yoga class! I've been running the past two mornings, so I hope I don't walk like an old lady tomorrow (like I did after my 8 miles last weekend!). I've never even done just plain yoga, so I'm not sure exactly what to expect. In the past I did a yogalaties class (yoga and pilates combined) which I really enjoyed. It's harder than you think! These pictures sort of freak me out!

However, it does seem like a pretty cool sequence. THe class is 90 minutes and you go through 26 positions and 2 breathing exercises. I found a pretty good website explaining the poses here... and here's a picture of each of them:

So I'm nervous but excited! I'll definitely let you know how it goes... and how I feel tomorrow. :-) I'm anxious that I might like it a lot, and then get hooked on it. It's not cheap (each class is $15), so I may only go once a week or so if I do end up loving it.

Happy Friday Eve!

Weekend re-cap

I had such a fun weekend!! For starters - I RAN 8 MILES Saturday morning! I got up at 5:30AM to beat the heat, and man, it was a tough run. I felt like dying at 5 miles, so the last 3 were all mental. But it's good training for me to get ready for the half marathon coming up. I would have never believed I could do this (running for an hour and 45 minutes!) if you told me a year or more ago. But I'm feeling accomplished and so excited to check this off my bucket list!

I saw a bunch of friends over in Tampa this weekend, and all of my family plus all three nephews! It was a good time. I got super sunburnt Sunday morning hanging out in my friends pool (sans sunscreen...oops), and I'm feeling it today. When will I ever learn?

Speaking of sunburn, you can sort of see it in this picture. My friend Brittany got me this shirt for my birthday, and I totally love it!

I'm really looking forward to this upcoming weekend. I feel like I haven't seen much of my hubby latley... he worked 80 hours last week (all 7 days) and I'm REALLY happy he has this weekend off! :-)

OH - my hair stylist told me about this place near me that has Bikram Yoga classes. She swears by them and says it's really good for you, especially runners, because of the stretching. I think I'm gonna try a class this Thursday night. Has anyone done it before? It's 90 minutes that that seems like a long time to me. Ha!

How was your weekend?

Happy Monday!

Friday fun post - new hair!

I did it! Last night I got my hair done, and I'm loving it.

Also, I'm happy to report that in the past several months I've lost about 12 pounds! It's crazy when I actually write the number down, because it's been so slow. But I'm feelin gooooooood about that. :)

Happy Friday!

Communicate much?

Last night we had every intention of going to bed "early", which of course did not happen.

Does something ever just hit you, and you feel like you should talk about it right then? Something that's been in the back of your mind for a few days, and the right opportunity comes and you take it?

I'm not a big communicator, I'll admit. I hide a lot of things from a lot of people. The thing is, I don't think I intentionally hide things, I just don't show a lot of emotion, so it leaves most people in the dark about how I really feel. Further, things usually linger in my mind for several days while I think it through, before I'll say anything about it.

There are a handful of people who know this about me. Apparently my husband wasn't one of them, until last night. But like most women, I expected him to just read my mind and have the telepathy skills required to pick up on my emotions. So last night I brought something up that he had said to me last Sunday. He was confused because at the time he said it, I didn't seem upset at all or say anything about it.

I proceeded to enlighten him with how my brain works (which is slowly), and how I'm a "processor" vs. a quick reactor. I gave him an example of how my mom knows this about me - and when my parents called me to tell me they were moving to Indiana, I had no reaction over the phone. I was all "ok, that's cool."  She said they got off the phone and Dad remarked to her how well I took the news.

"Just give it a few days" my mom said.

Sure enough, I blogged about it the next week (I can't find the link right now, but if I do I'll post it), unloading all of my emotions and reactions. I just think about things for a while before I respond/react.

So anyway, last night Eric and I just laid in bed and talked for probably about two hours. But I really think I needed that. We're so busy, we don't get a lot of opportunities to just talk. It wasn't planned, but it works better that way I think.

Last week on Keeping up with the Kardashians, Kris and Bruce were having an argument over something stupid (don't we all?), and they worked it through - which is something I love about them. At the end of the episode, she said something which I thought about last night. Referring to marriage being a lot of work, her advice was to "Communicate, communicate, communicate. Oh yeah, and you could always communicate."

Good advice.

Getting back to my roots

I've been blonde for many years. But like most blondes, it comes from a bottle and my roots are really a dirty/dark blonde to light brown. Latley I've been debating on whether I should "get back to my roots" and go a little darker.

I have gone dark in the past, and I must say it has not been pretty. However, I normally did it myself and it would either be way too dark or look brassy and reddish. My roots are mostly an ash brown/blonde.

Let's review some history:

This isn't the darkest my hair has ever been (I can't find pictures), but it gives you a good idea of the real color of my roots.

This is the longest my hair has ever been. This is on my wedding day... I had extensions in, but I like it this length. I want to grow it out, and maybe actually do it for real this time!

This is the lightest my hair has ever been... at the end of 2010.

And this is my hair now. You can see my mom's hair next to me, and I think that is probably close to what my color would look like if it was natural (you can also clearly see my roots in this pic... yuck. AND I had it colored two weeks before this trip! That's how quickly you can see the roots).

Soooo, what I'm thinking about doing this weekend is getting some lowlights to start blending my natural color into the blonde. I don't want to go all drastic right away, but eventually I want my natural color with maybe a few blonde highlights every now and then.

I'm thinking something like this to start with:

What do you think? I really want to go for it... it's time for a change.

Also, if any of you have had success with any tricks that make your hair grow faster, I'd love to hear them! My hair grows slower than slowwwwww...  and I am not a patient person when it comes to my hair. The longest I grew it out was right before my wedding to make sure the extensions would look ok, and I was so fet up with it I just pulled it back all the time.

Oh - I found this picture from several months ago when I did some dark coloring in my hair:

Ok... I need opinions! Help! :)

Coming back to life

Our little vacation to Indiana has come and gone... and I have lots pictures to prove it!

On the plane...

We took my nephew JJ with us, and he was having a blast!

We headed over to my grandparents house for a couple of days. It was fun to see counsins, aunts and uncles! After a couple of days there, we drove back to Mom and Dad's with JJ to spend the rest of the week. We saw some fireworks...

JJ couldn't make it through the whole fireworks show... it was really long, and way past his bedtime! :)

The next day Mom, Dad and JJ went to see Cars 2, and Eric and I saw Transformers 3! It was my first 3-D movie experience... It was cool, but I'm not totally sold on it!

Then, I drove about an hour to spend the night with Sarah, my friend from Florida (who moved up to IN about 3 years ago). We had a fun night of girl talk, and then went out to get some drinks in her new Benz! :)

Hmm... what else. Oh, we met up with my Aunt and Uncle for dinner the night before we left.

After 5 days of fun, we headed home! JJ missed "Goey" (aka grandma), but was ready to see mom and dad.

It was a fun trip, but definitely exhausting traveling with a 4 year old! My goodness. Props to you moms out there. I'm sooo not ready for that... thank goodness they start as a tiny little package and give you time to adjust! Haha!

We got home early Thursday morning (2:30AM early...) and so all day Friday I just cleaned, did laundry, and got my drivers license renewed.

I woke up Saturday so.damn.sick.

It's like I was hit by a truck. I was trying to put off going to the doctor, so I just relaxed at home for the weekend, and really did feel better by Monday (my birthday!). So I went to work, and got all kinds of goodies for my birthday! Eric got me flowers and brought me Panera for lunch. Aww. :)

We went out to dinner and I had a margarita...

And then I woke up Tuesday morning feeling like I'd been hit by a truck again. I finally gave in a went to the doctor, and he told me I had bronchitis! Ugggh. I won't even get into the fiasco at the pharmacy  (Iwastherefor1.5hoursbecauseirefusedtopay$100forantibiotics)... but after 24 hours of the drugs and some rest off work, I'm feeling a bit better today, so I'm back at it. This sucks. I'm hoping it's all cleared up by this weekend so I can do something fun for my birthday!!

How was everyone's fourth? I know I'm late, but hey... I have a good excuse!
