TGIF and funny Friday!

I'm soooooo glad it's Friday. I always am. This weekend will still be busy, but a good busy at least! Tomorrow morning I'm headed to my old stomping grounds on the west coast (Clearwater Beach) for a batchelorette party. I'm in my friend Britt's wedding next weekend, so let the fun times begin tomorrow!

Last night (AFTER I got home from school at 8:30PM mind you) I made a scrumptious pumpkin cheesecake for the hubs to take to his work party at the sheriff's office today. I made two of them, and he said there were only a few pieces left! Sounds like a hit! I had some extra so I made a few mini's last night, which I'm looking forward to having for myself. It had a yummy gingersnap crust and this sour cream mixture on top. So so good.

(I'll post the recipe soon!)

So I decided to play along with Kelly & Co. and post something I found funny this week! I actually just saw this today and it made me LOL. I normally don't like watching videos online (especially at work) but this one was awesome. Check it out for a good laugh! :) I love Ellen! (and the Becks accent is sooo cute lol)

Happy Friday!

Exciting news!

I'm so excited! I'm trying not to let myself get too excited though, in case something doesn't work out... but...

*drumroll please...*

We have agreed on a price for the house, and will be signing the paperwork today!!!

There is soooooooo much still to happen, and it all totally confuses me, but hopefully everything will work out. We're trying to get the loan paperwork signed, which may not happen until Friday, and then get the inspection done this week. At least then, those two major things will be done. The only thing after that is the appraisal, which could affect the deal, but probably hopefully not.

The only slightly disappointing thing is that the seller can't close/move until December 20th, which is like 2 months away. We were hoping for Dec. 5th, but I will wait 2 more weeks if I have to.

Apart from this house stuff, which is already driving me crazy, looking ahead to the next few weeks is c-r-a-z-i-e-r. This weekend I was supposed to go to a Halloween party, but now I'm going to Tampa for my friends bachelorette party. (The only good part is now I don't have to dress up for Halloween! Haha! Call me crazy, but I seriouslyyyy hate dressing up.)

The next weekend I'm headed to Tampa again to be in my friends wedding. Then the week after that is Eric's pinning-on ceremony and he will officially be on the road as a Deputy Sheriff! Then I'm headed BACK to Tampa for a 2-day HR training during the week, and then the next week is Thanksgiving! OMG!

Oh yeah and I'm in my Psychology class which is by far more difficult than the others I've had... so studying has to fit in there as a priority too.

Here's to me trying to keep my sanity until the end of the year! :)

Thoughts in my head...

- I took a 1/2 day off yesterday to go drive all over creation and check out 5 more houses (2 were in Osceola county... 2 hours of driving... not fun). Eric wanted to be SURE there was nothing better out there. We decided there was nothing better, so we're making an offer on house #3 today! :) :) :) Fingers crossed!

- I ran 4 miles this morning. That is a record for me. I was so excited!

- The Air Force paid Eric almost $800 yesterday, and we're still waiting to see if it was their mistake. They only owed him 3 days and somehow that doesn't seem right... they have a history of overpaying, and then without warning they take it back whenever they realize it. It could be months, years later. Yeah.

- Baby fever is here.

Happy Friday!

P.S. This is an older song by Michael W. Smith (Christian artist), but I heard it on my ipod on my way to work, and it was just the right song. Listen.

Update on the house search

I'm so excited that things seem to be moving along for us to get a house! As I posted earlier, we really like this house, and we still may make an offer.

#1

As much as we like it, we've only looked at two houses and I really think we need to look at some more. So Wednesday night we're going to look at these two:

#2 - I don't like the kitchen in this one as much as #1, but I love the pond in the backyard! This one is also a short sale but it already has lender approval, so it won't take as long. It's also slightly bigger and $3K less than #1.

#3 - This one is a 4 bedroom which is awesome, and is much bigger than either of the first two. It has a large, fenced in backyard which is perfect. It also comes with a washer, dryer and a HOT TUB! :) It's the same price as #1, but I think we would have a better opportunity to offer less because we'd be dealing with the seller and not the bank.

Last night we met with our mortgage broker who is going to process our VA loan paperwork. She said she would have our pre-approval letter to us today! That means we can technically make an offer on any house because we already know how much we'll be approved for. I'm happy about that! She was so awesome and sat there for an hour to answer our questions. She's been a broker for 30 years and I was on major information overload after talking to her... but it was good stuff to know.

What I'm hoping for is to have a decision made by this weekend on which house to make an offer on. I hope we make the right decision and don't lose something else that could be better.

Any advice on short sales, questions to ask, or anyting in general about buying a house? :)

This is why I really love my job...

I got to do her makeup (we just put on a little powder and lipgloss to make them feel special) for an adoption photoshoot today... I was her new bff (or "sister" to her) and learned all about her love of vampires, that she is actually a "human" vampire, and that she loves Johnny Depp. :)

And this little guy stole my heart today. His name is Jimmy and has been looking for a forever family since he was 3 months old. He's now 3 years old. Love him. I'd steal him if Eric wouldn't notice...

Sigh... I love my job.

In other news, tomorrow we're going to look at this house!! I'm crossing my fingers! It's GORGEOUS and only 2 years old. We have a bunch more we want to see, and still have to get qualified through the VA loan, but we're moving forward and trying to see if we can get a house by February.

I can't wait for this weekend to relax. Like seriously.

TGIF! Have a happy weekend!

Back on track

The past few months I've only been half-heartedly following my Weight Watchers "program", just using my head to try to "guesstimate" how many calories or points may be in something I'm eating. I've cheated a lot on weekends, and yes, gained 2-3 pounds. The one positive thing is I've kept up my workout regime, which is good because it's much harder to start working out again after slacking off!

But that's all stopping this week! I'm back to logging in and tracking everything I eat. Seriously, this is the one thing I would recommend to anyone who wants to lose weight or maintain. Track everything. Once you educate yourself and realize just how many calories are in that Frontega Chicken sandwich at Panera (srrsssly Panera, almost everything on your menu is 1000 calories!) you would be shocked. And it keeps you on track.

So far this week:

Monday:
Food: Slimfast shake for breakfast, some carmel corn to fill in the cracks, turkey chili and baked chips for lunch,  King Ranch Chicken (WW recipe) for dinner, and 1/2 a slice of homemade pumpkin pie.
Workout: I ran Sunday night, so I got up and did weights at the gym for 30 minutes

Tuesday:
Food: Granola bar for breakfast, carmel corn (I gotta get rid of that stuff!), I plan to have leftover King Ranch Chicken for lunch and homemade spaghetti for dinner.
Workout: Ran 2 miles. Thinking about doing another work out with the hubs tonight (I'm trying to motivate him too! He's doing great with eating better, but not so much the working out part. :)

I hope to keep this up and you'll have to hold me accountable! :)

Happy Tuesday!

Bad blogger and my new normal

I guess this is going to be the "new normal" in my life, so I might as well stop apologizing for it! But I feel bad not blogging more often than I do! Sometimes it just seems repetitive to post "...I'm busy, busy, busy", but it's the truth.

I tell you what, this conference we have coming up February is taking up any extra time I may have had before. I have been coming into work early, not taking lunch, and staying late for the past 2-3 weeks. And I don't see that slowing down any time soon... probably actually just getting worse, though I can't even imagine that right now.

The good part about all of this is, I love it. I love our agency and I have the best boss who recognizes everything that I do. I love this new responsibility and the opportunities that planning this conference is giving me. It's a huge step in the right direction. You know what they say, that if you love what you do, you'll never work a day in  your life. That's how I feel.

In non-work related news, life is so good. The weather is perfect. My husband is loving his new job at the Sheriff's Office. I got a "get out of jail free" sticker for my car and took off my "Air Force Wife" one. It's the new normal people, and I've adjusted. I love that too.

It's looking like 2011 is going to be a big year for us.

I'll keep you posted. :)
