Ahhhhh

My goodness, what a fantastic long weekend it's been! And it feels even better to know I'm only working the next 3 days and then we're off to our Jamaican cruise! :)

Quick recap...

Friday night: The hubby and I did some fun shopping at Target and got lots of cute stuff! I got 2 new bikinis, a cute dress and a few things for the cruise! We had a burger at Five Guys (a first) and saw Prince of Persia with Callie and Rams. I thought it was cute and funny! Jake is hot. Hehe.

Saturday: I got up early, went running, laid out at the pool, then Eric and I went shopping again and got more clothes... including this shirt from AE which Eric picked out for me! :)

That night was Callie's 21st birthday party, which was lots of fun! :)

Sunday: Eric and I slept in and then started cleaning like crazy! I cleaned the kitchen, laundry room, bathroom, carpets, closet (got rid of 10 pairs of shoes!), re-arranged the office/desk area... wow. It felt SO good! I can't even remember what we did that night but I made spaghetti for dinner and we went to bed around midnight!

Monday: I got up and went to the pool with Callie until lunch, then Eric and I spent the rest of the afternoon washing and waxing both of our cars, inside and out. Exhausting! We even gave the dogs a bath afterward. Then we had dinner at Charlie & Jakes and watched a movie.

It was a very productive weekend!! I have a busy 3 days of work and then it's time to get a mani/pedi, do laundry, pack and HEAD TO MIAMI for our cruise!

Life is good! :) Happy Memorial Day!

Oh and P.S. -- This is Layla. Layla's favorite thing to do is squeak her squeaky toys. I'm pretty sure she could do this 24/7 and she especially loves to do it during our favorite TV shows. Enjoy the hilarity!

Happy day :)

It's Friday! And there's no one in the office except me and Erica! Happy times. I'm meeting Eric for lunch with Rams and Callie. I don't have plans for tonight, but maybe have a few drinks and watch Euro Trip with Eric. Apparently we watched it in Paris back in the day on our "first date", but I honestly do not remember. I need to get a refresher because Eric quotes that movie all the time!

So last night I logged on to BCC's website and took a look at the placement test "practice" test. Everything looks super easy except for the math portion. It was almost hilarious, seeing all the x's and y's  and not having a clue on where to even BEGIN solving them. I actually felt better doing the practice test, and knowing without a doubt that I will not "pass" the math portion. It was sort of a relief... don't even need to study because I never did Algebra 2 in highschool. It's pointless. I need someone to teach me. But really it's not a  pass or fail, it's just a matter of where you "place" and if you need to take "pre-classes" to review highschool math before you can get credit for the college math. So, I feel so much better about it, and can't wait to get it overwith next Thursday night!! :)

Also, on the topic of school, it was really encouraging yesterday when a co-worker talked to me about going back to school. She said she was 30 when she went to college (which was good, because I'm feeling "old" going back at almost 25!), and she also "failed" the math placement test. So she took the prep classes and learned it, and then went on to get all A's in math throughout college! That was awesome news!

To leave you with some cuteness for your Friday, here is a picture of Layla in the tub earlier this week. As I was getting ready in the bathroom, she just walked over and climbed on in. I had to take a picture! She's done it twice this week too! She absolutely loves the water!

Happy Memorial Day weekend!!!

Weekend plans

Seeing this is the last weekend we have at home before our cruise, I have lots of grandiose plans of shopping and last-minute planning.

I need to buy:

- Bikini's (don't care if they are cheap, as long as they're cute and cover the girls!)
- Some sort of "water shoes". I wished I had them on our last cruise.
- Bathing suit "cover up" dresses to slip on and off easily
- SPF 15, 30 and 50 tanning lotion
- Alcohol to bring along. I know you're not "supposed" to, but we did last time and it was no problem. The bag guy even told us to bring it. So I'm hoping we get off that easily again! Saves lotsa $$!
- Random items like leave-in conditioner, makeup pencil sharpener, etc.
- OH YEAH, a birthday present for my hubby. No ideas there.

I cannot WAIT! It's hard to believe we've been married 2 years already!

In addition to the fun time off/partying/shopping/laying out we'll be doing this weekend, I'm hoping to see Prince of Persia and Sex and the CityII. If I have to choose though, I'm ABSOLUTELY seeing Sex and the City II!!

What are your Memorial  Day plans?

Lots of stuff

I've decided I'm not one of those interesting bloggers. I don't have very interesting things to say I guess. I don't attract new followers on a consistent basis. I'm just ... me.

But I'm ok with that. I like writing about my life, about what I do, and that helps me think things through.

It's probably boring to you, but I'm enjoying myself. :)

With that said, here are some things I'm looking forward to:

- Tonight I have an orientation meeting at BCC (Brevard Community College) to find out about this whole college thing. I managed to put my transcripts together last night and am crossing my fingers that they are accepted without a problem.

- Being busy. Seriously, 10 days till our cruise, and my schedule at work is buuuuuusy. I love it.

- Having a 3-day weekend! Saturday night is Callie's 21st birthday party, Sunday we might go to Busch Gardens, and Monday I'm hoping to just spend time with Eric and do some cruise shopping. We need to buy exciting stuff like suntan lotion, water shoes and liquor.

- Today and tomorrow Eric is off, studing for his State Exam to be a FL Police Officer. He takes the 4-hour test tomorrow, and I'm so excited because I'm sure he'll pass! Then he'll be able to apply at all the police departments and we can get a better idea of where we'll be moving to in September!

- I think I look good today. Am I vain for posting a pic of myself two days in a row?

Weekend recap

It's gonna be a good week! :) I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! I know I'm totally looking forward to my upcoming 3-day weekend even more.

I did finally get my Beachbody shipment on Friday afternoon. I did pretty well with it this weekend! The first day was a little hard and I was hungry, but stuck with it. I was at a picnic in the morning until about 1PM, and they had catered BBQ and I didn't even have a bite. I SOOO wanted to though - it smelled sooo good! I'm glad I stuck with it.

The rest of the day was easy, because I laid out at the pool with Callie, then met up with some girlfriends to go shopping. We came back to my house and watched "Did You Hear About the Morgans" and then I went to bed.

Sunday was easy, until about 3PM when I started getting super hungry and EVERYTHING sounded good. My hubby was on his way home and so I ordered pizza and did eat dinner that day. I weighed myself before then and I lost approx. 3 pounds! I'm super excited that I FINALLY broke the scale that was stuck at a certian number. Hah! Feels great!

I got my hair cut/colored on Friday night... back to nice and blonde and a little shorter. It has more of an angled cut than I had before too, which I love. Here are a few pics:

Tonight we're going out to dinner with Callie and Rams  cuz it's Callie's 21st birthday! :) yay!

And woohooo - only 11 days till our cruise!

T minus 1 hour till the weekend!

Why...

- does everything happen at 4PM on Friday? Seriously, suddenly everything is an effin crisis and HAS to be done RIGHT NOW and NO ONE  is in the office, forcing me to become wonder woman.

- did I pay $14 extra for 2-day shipping and my weight-loss in a box hasn't arrived yet? wtf Beachbody? I WAS looking forward to starving myself this weekend, but I may not have to if you don't deliever. pssh.

- do I have to wake up before 8AM tomorrow? it's a saturday. because I'm an angel and will be volunteering at a picnic for happy little kids who've been adopted. that's why.

- do people reply to ME in an email ... pause. ok. let me explain. i am responsible for emailing the whole company whenever someone has a birthday. so I select the "All Users" mailing list and send out my happy little birthday message, complete with clipart of a birthday present and EVERYTHING. then... WITHOUT fail... EVERY TIME... I get someone who hits "reply" and sends me back a happy birthday message. I must have a birthday several times a week. "Happy Birthday Mr. Jim!! Hope your year is filled with love, laugher, happiness, and unexpected blessings!!" Why thank you!

- does Perez Hilton (and about half my friends on facebook) keep posting about the Grey's season finale that was last night?!? HELLO! Some people own and use a DVR and watch it LATER so they can ff through the commercials. I am living for approx. 7:30PM tonight once I'm back from my hair appointment to sit down and watch that show. do not interrupt me. i will not respond. i will be having a glass of wine and remembering how to breathe.

(btw as long as Derek doesn't die I think I'll be ok. Meredith too. )

(but don't tell me anything!)

cheers to friday!

(don't ask me what's up with the pigs. i think they're cute.)

Back to school

I officially applied with our local community college to try out ONE class this summer and see if I can do it along with my full-time job. I've wanted to get my degree for some time, I just never felt it was the right time. I've always been "too busy" or thought it would cost "too much money". I've decided to stop making excuses, and just do it. Even if I only finish my AA, no matter how long it takes me (one class a semester?), I'm determined to do it! I'd really like to get my Bachelors... but I'm gonna start small for now.

The problem is - I was homeschooled. So I don't have any official documents such as transcripts that I can just turn in. I have to create them, get special things signed by my parents, notarized, etc. This is going to be a project! But I NEED to get it done ASAP so I can start this class at the end of June.

I'm excited... nevous... stressed. I'm not sure if I will enjoy it, but I know how badly I want it. Or at least I want to try. Better late than never, right?!?

Beachbody 2-day fast

So in between posting late yesterday and 9PM last night, I decided to go with the Beachbody 2-day fast formula this weekend! Kelly over at Keeping Up With Kelly & Co did this one a few weeks back and reminded me about it. She lost 4 lbs. so I'm going to give it a try!

I placed the order last night over the phone because their online ordering didn't have an express shipping option that would guarantee I'd receive it on Friday.

So after talking to someone in India for 20 minutes (10 of that was just getting my address right) I got an email and apparently my name is "Ftphanie". Nice.

I got the chocolate flavor... hoping it tastes great! I'm kinda looking forward to it, but at the same time NOT. Haha. I have a few things planned for this weekend to keep me busy so I won't get bored and want to eat.

Wish me luck!

Weight-loss rut

Happy Monday! (I can say that because Monday is almost over!)

I've been thinking latley about my eating/workout routine. I have been suck at the same number on the scale for a long time. I flux about 2 lbs. on any given week, but it never goes below this stinking number. I can't even remember the last time I weighed less than I do now. It's super frustrating.

I think this was brought on by seeing my mom this weekend and how much weight she has lost! Seriously, she looks so skinnnnnnnnnnnnny. Her jeans were like falling off. Sure she's shorter than me (and probably has less muscle) but I'm tired of saying that as an "excuse".

I like how I look, but there is fat on my bod that fo shoe can come off and I wouldn't be hurting any.

So, I'm wondering what I should do. Should I switch up my workouts? Add something like Jillian Michael's videos' in addition to my running? Right now, I generally run M-W-F and do strength training one other day in there. Sometimes I also run on Saturday.

I'm also debating on jump starting it with some sort of "fast" this weekend. My hubby will be off camping/hunting with his friends so it'd be a good weekend to try.

I also think I'm boycotting french fries. They are the bane of my existence. I can never resist them, so I'm going to cut them off all together!

Any suggestions on the workout switch-up? Or suggestions on what sort of fast I can do for like 2 days? Also whatever it is can't have caffeine, because I don't drink any. I haven't researched it very much, but I was thinking about Quick Trim... they have a 48 hour cleanse I might look into further. (Found here)

Hubby

Sorry I've been a little MIA this week. I just haven't felt much like blogging! I did reach 50 followers for ONE STINKIN' DAY and I was all excited to do my giveaway... then it went back to 49. WTF people? Don't you want free Mary Kay stuff? Hellooo.

Well too bad. Now you have to wait.

So, I just feel like talking about my hubby today. I don't brag on him enough I don't think. I feel like latley I have been so in love with him all over again. You know how it is, when you and your partner are just on the same page and have so much to talk about? When you love just being near them and get so excited about their kisses?

That's how it's been latley. Be jealous.

I love how he calls me "Baby Steph" all the time.

I love how he feels when he kisses me right after he shaves.

I love that he surprises me with dinner out to Olive Garden on a Thursday night.

I love that he calls me on his way home from PT in the morning, saying "Don't leave yet, I want to give you kisses first!"

I love that he is just so darn cute.

I love that he listens to what I say, that he's so thoughtful, and that he spoils me like nobodys business.

I love that I get to spend the rest of my life with him!

T2T: Dream Home

Today I'm joining those at The Undomestic Momma for Top 2 Tuesday... Dream Home!

Honestly, right now, I'd settle for almost  anything that is a house. I'm sooo tired of our apartment. I want a yard, no one living above us, and more SPACE.

Basically, I want a 4-5 bedroom house (I'd settle for 3 at first) with 2-3 bathrooms. Two stories would be nice, but not necessary. A fenced in backyard. Nice open kitchen/dining room. Screened in patio for entertaining... maybe with a pool too. That's about it! I don't have a particular "style" of home (plus I don't know much about the styles) but I like the clean/classic/contemporary look.

But I wouldn't be complaining if my hubby wanted to drop everything and move to this $6 million villa in Turks and Caicos either...

Not in the mood

I don't feel like blogging much today, so here's a peek at the fun we had this weekend!

Our party was sooo fun and the best way to kick off the summer! :)

Happy Monday!

Fuming Friday!

So even though I'm super excited it's Friday, I have some things to "fume" about too! So I'm linking up with Neely's "Fuming Fridays" to get it out of my system. :)

Fuming Fridays

1) Yesterday a little black, crappy sports car came this close to hitting the side of my new Edge! He was trying to merge over but was in the wrong lane and totally just moved over even though I was there first. It wasn't that I wasn't letting him in, he just shoved his way in, ifyouknowwhatimean. I honked because he almost hit me, I slowed down, and let him in once I realized what was going on. Then, once he got in front of me, he flicked me off!! The nerve!!

2) MY HAIR. It's a trainwreck. It needs to be cut and colored suhoooo bad, but I don't want to drop $90 on it right now. UGH. Not sure what I'm going to do. Plus, I wanted to wait until closer to our cruise (28 days!!) but I'm not sure it can wait that long!!

3) I ordered our Mother's Day gift last week and it still isn't here yet! The shipping method said Priority, 2-4 days in the email, but nothing has come. I emailed the seller and they bascially said "well we've already shipped it, so it's the USPS problem now." A little help, please?!! Where is the customer service nowadays?

4. I just don't want to work. If I have to be here, I want to close and lock the door and play on my blog and facebook all day. But I'd much rather be home getting my tan on or shopping!!

That'll do for now! :) If you want to fume, rant, and rave over something, head over to Chronicles of Neely and play along.

TGIF!!

Writer's Workshop: Memories of Mom

In honor of Mother's Day, I am choosing to write from the prompt "Memories of Mom". My mom has a blog and I hope she enjoys reading! :) Happy Mother's Day Mom!

I have a ton of memories of my mom ...

- First of all, she homeschooled us all the way through highschool -- none of us ever went to a public school! So we spent 24/7/365 with her. Good or bad... that was how we grew up! Haha. Today I'm glad for that experience. It made me who I am today, and although I definitely won't be homeschooling my kids (I have nowhere near the amount of organization and patience that she does) I'm really glad she gave up her career and spent all that time with us growing up!

- In my early teen years I thought I was NOTHING like my  mom. She didn't like a lot of the girly things I did, like getting her hair and nails done, shopping, etc. Now that I'm even older (and wiser?), I realize I'm a LOT like my mom in many ways. Turns out she does like doing those girly things, I just never knew. Also, she gave me her LEGS (thanks alooootttt for that one!)... her one tiny hair that grows on the bottom of her chin... her characteristic of always wanting to be right... haha. But I can only hope to look as good as she does when I'm her age. ;)

- Mom is a great cook. Just ask my husband, he reminds me of that fact every time we are visiting them! Ha. I hope I inherited that gene.

- Something I always remember about mom and dad is that they never disagreed in front of us kids. If they did not agree about something, they'd never discuss it in front of us... they always presented a united front. As a kid that was frustrating because there was no thinking "Mom said no, so I can just go ask Dad!" Didn't matter - their answers were always the same. That combined with their marriage of 26 years really gave us a great life growing up. I am so thankful that mom and dad stuck it out and have a great marriage today. It really gives me an ideal picture of what a marriage should and can be!

- No matter what, mom always knew when I was sick. She said she could tell just by looking in my eyes. And still to this day, mom is the most compassionate and always the one I 'want' to be around when I am sick (aside from maybe my hubby). It's a mom thing I guess. :)

- I will probably never know the amount of pain and suffering I put mom through in my lifetime. She always jokes that I was her "problem child"... you know, the middle child with the most insecurities that needed the most attention... but I always know she loves me. Never questioned that. There were times I thought she wanted to murder me... haaha just kidding! :) But love - that has always been there. She is a great mom. I couldn't ask for anything better than everything that she is.

I love you mom and hope you have a very special Mother's Day!You're the best! I love you!

Housekeeping

I have a few random blog things to catch up on today  -  so it's officially housekeeping time!

I've been given a couple of blog awards in the past few weeks, and it's about time I blog about them! And -- oh my goodness, I don't have time to do all the requirements for these awards, like post 10 things about myself, etc. But I will tag one person under each one to pass them along! Thank you ladies so much for reading my blog and being such good blogger friends! :)

First of all, thank you to Joanna for this blog award!

Tag: Shelley from Hand in Hand. Her blog is so cute and she is also a young wife to a police officer!

Next thank you to Kelly for this award:

Tag: Neeley at Neeley's Nothings. Her blog is beautiful and so is she! :)

Thank you to Amanda for this award:

Tag:  - Stephanie at Steph in the City. Her blog is so honest and relevant! She's a great writer! Say a prayer for her because she lives in Nashville and her house could be damanged by all the rain.

Finally, thank you to Kim for this cute award!

Tag: Callie at Mrs. Callie Martinez. Callie is my "friend in real life" or IRL friend as they call it (believe it or not I just found out that meant "in real life" the other day! I had to google it! haha) and she is awesome! She is super cute inside and out!

Second housekeeping item is - 30 days until our cruise exactly today! I lost about another pound and am still working on it! :) I want to go down 3-5 more before we leave. This requires me to focus a lot on WEEKENDS especially because we have a lot of parties/get togethers coming up this month. Whew!

Third item is - today is Cinco de Mayo and we're having friends over for tacos and margaritas! :) MMM. For a good skinnygirl margarita recipe click here!

Fourth - I only have ONE more follower to go until I do a giveaway! Who will be the 50th follower to make this happen? I'm thinking about doing a Mary Kay giveaway since I just started as a consultant. Hmmmm...

Fifth and final housekeeping item is -- I need some advice! A long time ago on my blog I had an ex-friend who was reading my blog because she deleted me from Facebook and was still trying to keep up with my life. So, because she didn't have a blogger profile, I found another way to block her, and it worked. Her husband used to be my husband's best friend for 13 years and they had a falling out as well. It was a very messed up situation. So, I wrote this blog entry and at first didn't write how I was really feeling towards her (because I knew she could/would read it). A few months later, I decided to go ahead a post it. You can read my "Frenemies" post here. Long story short, a few months after I posted that, (December 2009) I was thinking about this whole situation and felt like this girls husband was taking out his anger towards ME on my husband Eric (his former best friend) and so I felt the need to apologize. Eric hadn't done anything to him, but they had read MY blog and got upset and everything blew up. So I emailed the guy to apologize for my part in the situation. He emailed me back accepting my apology, and agreed to meet Eric for lunch to talk.

Well, he never contacted Eric. Then out of the blue  about 2 weeks ago he texted Eric and wanted to meet up. They met for lunch last weekend and everything between them is back to normal. That is awesome. I always wanted things between them to be ok because they'd been friends wayyyy before me and his wife met... so they should maintain that. Anywayyyyyyyyyy, now we have a "situation" because I still have no interest in being friends with this girl. She is just not someone I get along with and I've learned my lesson the hard way. However, Eric still wants to invite his friend over for parties, etc. How can you say "Oh, you're invited to this party but your wife isn't"?? I am wondering how this is going to play out. Any advice from those who've maybe been in a similar situation?

P.S. The Undomestic Momma is giving away something from Paisley Pineapple! Check it out here!

Look how cute these bags are:

I did it!

Last night I went to a Mary Kay team meeting with my "team leader" Kelli, and decided to go ahead and sign up as a consultant so I can buy stuff for me (and family/friends) for 50% off! I'm excited about it. I'm getting my starter kit soon, and then will place an order soon so I can have all sorts of beautiful things when we go on our cruise! I can't wait!

I chose this gold leaf necklace for signing up last night:

At this point I'm not going to sell or do parties, but love the fact that I can if I want to in the future. There was a lady at the meeting last night who has been ordering for herself (they call it a "personal use consultant") for 10 years! It's totally your decision. In the future I may see what I can do with it... but for now I'll enjoy 50% off products!

If anyone wants to order some MK at 50% off in the next couple of weeks I'm placing my first order so I can have the stuff before our cruise next month. Visit my website at www.marykay.com/sstrodtman to make your choices and I'll place the order for you through my special site and then you pay me for what you ordered. I'm not making any money off this, I just want to offer it if anyone is interested! :)

Weekend recap

It was another good weekend! This is going to be quick becuase I've been messing arounnd all morning and really  need to get to work!

Friday night I went with Callie to a Mary Kay party. It was fun, and I enjoyed trying the new products for summer and really liked the skincare products. I was surprised at how much I liked it. I am THINKING about signing on as a consultant to only use the products for my personal use (you get a 50% discount, with a few strings attached). I have emailed the consultant I'm friends with to ask a million questions and get details. She signed up a few years ago and used the products for 2 years for only her personal use, so I'm picking her brain. The starter kit is $100 and you get over $300 in products. The thing is you have to order $200 ($400 retail, discounts to $200 as a consultant) every 3 months to stay 'active' and continue receiving the 50% discount. I know I won't order that much, so I'm debating if it's worth it. Any tips from those who've been there, done that?

Saturday we went to Orlando and I saw my bff Sarah for shopping dinner at the Mall at Millenia. It was fun and great to see her again!

At dinner... no idea why I'm making that face!

Sunday we came back from Orlando and laid out at the pool in the afternoon with Callie and Rams. It was lotsa fun and I got some good sunshine. :) Now it's Monday again and back to work! I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend. It's HOT here in Florida--- in the 90's already.

Oh, P.S. Today marks our one year wedding ceremony celebration! May 3rd, 2009 is when we had our ceremony (even though we got legally married on June 4, 2008, and that is the date we celebrate as our "real" anniversary... hence the cruise in June - -AKA next month! wow!).

Here are a few pics to reminice...

What good memories. :)

Have a happy day!
